Isabel and James – wedding photography at Ardington House, Oxfordshire 29 Jul 2011 No Comments

Isabel and James got married at the beautiful Ardington House. Isabel stunning dress is Pronovia’s, it was the only dress she tried on.

The couple live in Singapore but fell in love with the grounds at Ardington House, with its countless opportunities for wedding photography. Isabels dream was to get married outside under the temple. It was raining in the morning but amazingly it held off as soon as Isabel made her way to get married, right up until the speeches.

What I love about weddings is the fact that they all have their individual touches, the best man composed a funny song for the speeches, we captured some great reactions from the guests.

So the CD arrived and i can barely get myself to work in the office….i cant stop looking at them, they are incredible. THANK YOU!

We couldnt have wished for a nicer and more professinal team to work with. You were so discreet i barely noticed you around and yet we have pictures of everything. We also enjoyed both of you and your easy going way which made us feel very comfortable.

I have friends marrying next summer and will tell them to get in touch with you. My brother is very upset with the pics of his weddings after he has seen ours ;)

Lai and Les – wedding photography at Knowlton Court, Kent 18 Jul 2011 No Comments

Lai and Les got married in the enchanting and old worldly Knowlton Court, near Canterbury in Kent. Their wedding service took place in front of a tapestry and two knights in amour! Then the couple walked down the aisle to bubbles.

Lai organised the wedding from Hong Kong! We were recommended by a family member and I only spoke on the phone to Lai before the wedding. On the day she was relaxed despite the English weather. Luckily the rain held off long enough, so we could get some classic wedding photographs in the grounds. Knowlton Court has some stunning grounds. These are now Lai’s favourite images from the day.

Here are a few of my personal favourites. Yet again, I couldn’t narrow it down to less than 50 images…

Everyone has been telling me how fantastic the photos are! Les and I both thank you and Martyn for everything. We are really pleased with the photos and will for sure pass your details to future brides/grooms!

Sara and Martin – wedding photography at Islington Town Hall and Coq d’Argent, London 17 Jul 2011 No Comments

Sara and Martins stylish London wedding, that I’m now calling the ‘Sex and the City’ wedding because of the dress, styling and the Jimmy Choos! I loved the blue hydrangea bouquets too.

The service was at Islington Town Hall, then all the guests hopped on a bus to Coq d’Argent, where we were spoilt for choice for locations for the wedding photography, every direction we turned made a great photograph. It was a hot day and everyone enjoyed the roof terrace with fantastic views over the city.

After some heart felt speeches, guests danced the night away outside on the terrace to a Beatles tribute band. A perfect ending to an amazing day.

Laura and James – wedding photography at Monks Barn, Hurley, Berkshire 19 Jun 2011 1 Comment

I started the photography of Laura and James day at Laura’s parents home, while Martyn followed the groom. There were lots of thoughtful touches that Laura had made, notes for the parents and bridesmaids, plus a mother of the bride survival kit!

Laura had a lovely country theme based on daisy’s, even the bouquet had daisy’s, which is something I hadn’t seen before. The bouquet was hand tied with lace from Laura’s dress.

Laura seemed more excited than nervous. The couple got married at St. Mary’s Church in Hurley. It was a relaxed and emotional service. We were grateful to be allowed to discreetly photograph the ceremony from the front and back.

After confetti and hugs, the guests walked across the road to Monks barn. Laura and James, with help from family and friends spent 3 days decorating it with daisy’s, wellies, bunting and all things country. The guests were entertained by a slideshow, giant jenga and croquet.

The rustic theme was complementing by favours of homemade jam by James and food from Complete Catering. The cake was made by James little brother in-between finishing his exams!

The party started after Laura and James did an impressive choreographed routine. For me their wedding had the real wow factor and was full of personal touches, which really made it special.

Laura and James suppliers were:

The dress was from Stunning Bride in High Wycombe and it was a Benjamin Roberts Blue by Enzoni design. It found it when shopping with Laura’s Mum, Mum in Law and Granny amid many tears!

The florist was Eden Floral Design in Marlow which is owned by a super lady called Anna who had so many original ideas for their rustic, natural theme.

The car is a Sunbeam from around the 1900s which a family friend Howard owns and kindly offered to drive us in.

Laura’s hair was done by Jess from Renaissance hair salon in Marlow and she adored it – especially the little daisies.

The flawless make-up was done by Amanda McKenna

Laura has the enviable job of writing for a wine magazine. The flower boxes were acquired from work.

Emily and Phil – wedding photography at St George The Martyr, Newbury with reception at Aldermaston Manor, Berkshire 17 Jun 2011 No Comments

It’s rare for us to photograph a local wedding; this was our first in our hometown of Newbury! Emily and Phil got married in St Nicholas’s. The vicar was very relaxed, always calming if the bride is a feeling naturally a bit nervous. The vicar gave us permission to photograph the service and even went as far to say that he hoped we got some good shoots. It was wonderful to be given a free reign, however it’s still a church service and not a photo shoot, so we choose to remain discreet. As it was, I was able to move down the side of the church unnoticed my rubber soled shoes and get different viewpoints. Martyn moved from the balcony to the back of the church for the ‘back of the dress’ shots. It was a great service, the choir that Emily sings in did a wonderful job.

The reception was at Aldermaston Manor. We got through the group list quickly but the rain held off. While Martyn was doing the groups, I was able to get lots of natural photographs of the guests enjoying themselves.

We finished the coverage with some photographs of the couple using the lake, the row of trees and the stunning staircase. Aldermaston Manor is a great venue and we are looking forward to photographing there again in August.

Fiona and David – wedding photography at Barnett Hill, Surrey 27 May 2011 No Comments

Here are just a few of my favourite images from Fiona and Davids wedding. Fiona wore a beautiful dress from Maggie Sottero which had lace flowers on it. Fiona’s hairdresser since childhood did her hair and Fiona bravely did her own make-up. She wasn’t nervous at all and looked like she thoroughly loved every minute of her day.

The wedding took place in St Edwards the Confessor, Sutton Green, near Guildford. It was the prettiest Catholic church I’ve ever seen. Despite it being the vicars first wedding, photography was allowed and he delivered a confident service.

The reception was held at Barnett Hill, a Queen Anne-style Country House with wonderful grounds and the interior is stunning, with a spectacular staircase. If you are considering this venue, the website doesn’t do the it justice!

The photos look amazing

Chris and Sarah – wedding photography at Coverwood Lakes 20 May 2011 No Comments

Chris and Sarah got married in St Mark church in Peaslake with a reception at the beautiful Coverwood Lakes. Coverwood Lakes is quite a magical venue and exclusive too as they only do about 6 weddings a year.

Regrettably the vicar at St Mark did not allow any photography during the service, so we had to make up for the lack of coverage during the drinks reception.

Before the wedding we spoke in detail about the type of wedding photography the couple wanted. Chris and Sarah preferred natural photographs of the two of them, as neither of them were very keen about being photographed! For the wedding photographs we made use of the stunning grounds that had come into flower earlier than expected due to this hot spring.

For the remaining drinks reception we got lots of informal photographs of the guests. The fashion for wedding guest seems to be bright pink and that was just the guys! Three men turned up in bright pink shirts, I assumed they were part of a club but apparently they didn’t know each other!

Sarah choose a purple colour theme, an usual but classic Pronovias wedding dress and their wedding cake was made of doughnuts, I must say it smelt very tasty. Everyone danced the night away to their band, rollercoaster.

We have received the photographs – they’re super, thanks! We’re very happy

Gemma and Gareth – wedding photography at Stanton House, Wiltshire 26 Mar 2011 No Comments

Every wedding has a story and Gemma and Gareth originally kept their wedding a secret from their guests, including the bridesmaids, best man and their families! They were told to keep the date free for Gareths 30th birthday party. However family guessed and the secret was out but it did mean the best man and bridesmaids got to try on their outfits and luckily everything fitted.

Gemma made her grand entrance down the staircase, which both Martyn and myself from different angles. The couple wrote their own vows and mentioned how important their children were to them. It was a very emotional service.

It wasn’t the warmest day in March but after the service we all braved the weather for some outside photographs and made the most of sunshine.

After the meal, the best man did his speech, which he had only a week to prepare for! He did manage to present the couple with some children’s toys. Meanwhile the children had the biggest goodie bags I’ve ever seen. They were then entertained by Magic Mike, I must say he got them very excited, which made for some great photographs. The adults were immortalised by a caricaturist.

During the first dance the DJ projected about 30 of our images that we had taken throughout the wedding. I noticed a lot of oo’s and ah’s and quite a few tears, which gave me a real sense of satisfaction.

We ended coverage with the guests doing some fancy moves on the dance floor.

They really are wonderful photos

Wedding photography at Moor Park Mansion – Nick and Debra 23 Jan 2011 No Comments

Nick and Debra choose the stunning Moor Park Mansion in Hertfordshire for their wedding. I absolutely love the architecture in this building, especially the staircase. I was quite excited to see the Christmas tree, which I knew would be quite a statement.

We’d photographed there before and so I was pleased when Nick and Debra’s friends recommended us and we could photograph their Christmas wedding there. The staff at Moor Park Mansion go out of their way to make the day special for the couple, the toast master really gets the crowds going, the food is excellent and they can even organise a firework display for some added evening entertainment.

In the morning I photographed the preparations at Debra’s parents house. She was quite relaxed and everyone was very friendly. Debra’s beautiful dress was a silver colour, the bridesmaids had dark blue dresses.

Martyn met Nick at the venue. I photographed the service from the front, capturing the nervousness and excitement, while Martyn captured the grandeur of the room from the back.

As it was cold and the snow had almost melted we did all the photographs indoors. Guests threw handmade snowflakes over the couple for the confetti!

We made use of the staircase and the balcony for the photographs of Nick and Debra, working without flash to capture the atmosphere.

The toastmaster got all the crowds to cheer the couple in, although they were a lively bunch and didn’t need too much encouragement! I love the photographs during the speeches, even the toastmaster has his head in his hands at one point during the bestmans speech. I can’t reveal what the bestman said but it takes a lot to shock us…

I photographed the first dance from the balcony, while Martyn captured all the emotion from the ground. As Nick picked Debra up and twirled her round, the train on her wedding dress looked amazing and made for some wonderful photographs.

As we finished, the DJ was playing some great tunes and we left on a real high.

The photos look great, some great action shots, especially during the speeches.

Wedding photography at Notley Tythe Barn, Buckinghamshire – James and Georgia 18 Jan 2011 No Comments

James and Georgia had a winter wedding at Notley Tythe Barn, Thame, Buckinghamshire.

I photographed the preparations at the brides mothers house, while Martyn followed James to the pub. Don’t worry while James had a customary pint to calm his nervous, Martyn sticks with non-alcoholic Coke!

Back at the house, there were lots of beautiful details to photograph. Georgia’s something blue was a garter with her new name embroidered on it, a present from James. The bouquets had white roses with seasonal berries and ivy. The colour theme was an unusual brown and ivory, the bridesmaids had classy long brown dresses. Georgia’s stunning dress was Art Couture.

Geogia did her own make-up in her sisters room. On the wall hung the words, live, laugh, love, which I thought were very apt. The mother of the bride helped with the finishing touches. There were a few mirrors in the bedroom, I couldn’t resist a few mirror shots of the bride seeing herself ready to be married.

Meanwhile back at Notley Tythe Barn, the barn looked magical with fairy lights everywhere, its ideal for a winter wedding. James it has to be said looked very nervous! However he soon relaxed when he saw his beautiful bride! Geogia was given away by her mother, as she gave Georgia a kiss at the top of the aisle, Martyn and I both captured it from different viewpoints.

I was expecting to photograph the service in very low light and I’d come prepared with Nikons best kit, where I can photograph in near darkness without flash! However there was plenty of soft, good quality light and perhaps more importantly lots emotion to photograph.

After the service, we did the family groups inside. While the snow hadn’t settled, it was certainly cold! The couple braved going outside for some photographs in the soft November light.

The speeches were both heartfelt and funny, allowing us capturing both the tears and the laughter.

We were treated to some very tasty sausages and mash, which gave us energy to photograph the first dance. I was able to use iso 6400 and photograph without flash, capturing the mood perfectly. You can see the look of joy in their faces.

We are truly delighted with the photos, many people have commented that they are the best wedding photo’s they have seen and I think this is a real credit to yourself and Martyn.
